Post-digestate composting shifts microbial composition and degrades antimicrobial resistance genes

چکیده

Post-digestate treatments may reduce the risk linked to Antibiotic Resistant Genes (ARGs) release with digestate direct land application. Thus, this study aimed evaluate post-digestate composting and co-composting biogas production feedstock (maize silage, food processing waste, poultry litter) effect on abundance of selected ARGs: erm(B), tet(K), tet(M), tet(O), tet(S) genes. More than 80% all ARGs were removed after 90 days but removals from lower. Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Proteobacteria dominated fresh digestate, a network analysis indicated that these potential hosts ARGs. The emergence Actinobacteria (dominant), Planctomycetes, Verrucomicrobia phyla during shifted microbial composition. Moreover, canonical correspondence showed trace elements explaining 90% variations in abundance. illustrates significance mitigating release, effectiveness could be shift composition release.

Metagenomic Profiling and Identification of Antimicrobial Resistance Genes from Airborne Microbial Communities

Introduction Since the adoption of antibiotics in the early 20th century, a plethora of clinical pathogens have acquired resistance to one or more modern-day antibiotics. This has resulted in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) being recognized as a severe threat to human and animal health worldwide. Recent work has demonstrated that AMR bacteria are widely prevalent in the environment, perhaps exac...

Effects of Copper Addition on Copper Resistance, Antibiotic Resistance Genes, and intl1 during Swine Manure Composting

Copper is one of the most abundant heavy metals present in swine manure. In this study, a laboratory-scale aerobic composting system was amended with Cu at three levels (0, 200, and 2000 mg kg-1, i.e., control, Cu200, and Cu2000 treatments, respectively) to determine its effect on the fate of copper resistance genes [copper resistance genes (CRGs): pcoA, cusA, copA, and tcrB], antibiotic resist...

Effects of pH and microbial composition on odour in food waste composting

A major problem for composting plants is odour emission. Slow decomposition during prolonged low-pH conditions is a frequent process problem in food waste composting. The aim was to investigate correlations between low pH, odour and microbial composition during food waste composting. Samples from laboratory composting experiments and two large scale composting plants were analysed for odour by ...

Host Genes Related to Paneth Cells and Xenobiotic Metabolism Are Associated with Shifts in Human Ileum-Associated Microbial Composition

The aim of this study was to integrate human clinical, genotype, mRNA microarray and 16 S rRNA sequence data collected on 84 subjects with ileal Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or control patients without inflammatory bowel diseases in order to interrogate how host-microbial interactions are perturbed in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Ex-vivo ileal mucosal biopsies were collected from t...

Identification of acquired antimicrobial resistance genes

OBJECTIVES Identification of antimicrobial resistance genes is important for understanding the underlying mechanisms and the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance. As the costs of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) continue to decline, it becomes increasingly available in routine diagnostic laboratories and is anticipated to substitute traditional methods for resistance gene identification. Thus,...
